Lokomotiv Moscow midfielder Ilya Berkovskiy has signed a new loan deal with Nizhny Novgorod.
The 20-year-old will stay at the club until the end of the 2021/22 season.
Berkovskiy has scored 6 goals and provided one assist in 23 Football National League games last season.
Nizhny Novgorod will play Premier League football next term.
– Ilya, you made just two FNL appearances in the second half of the season. Why?
- I picked up an injury at Lokomotiv, thought the recovery wouldn't take long but it wasn't meant to be. The injury was too serious and the recovery process was long. I finally recovered at the end of the season, just done my medicals with the rest of the team. I'm happy that my setbacks are in the past now. I'm fit and I'm getting ready for the new season.
– This is going to be your and Nizhny Novgorod's first Premier League season!
– I'm very happy for the team and the city that got a great present for its anniversary. With Loko, I trained only at training camps, so the Premier League is a great chance for me to impress. Besides, Nizhny Novgorod should always be among the greatest Russian teams. We have all the required infrastructure and we're focused on preparing for the new season. We have something to prove.
